Slater Mill along with Amica Insurance and the Weavers Guild of Rhode Island presen.
Weaving is so much more than warp and weft. Fiber artists from across the country have shown in the most recent exhibit that weaving is a multi-dimensional and creative craft. The Imagine That! exhibit features unique and unusual fabrics and fibers, interwoven in ways that push the way that we think about hand-craft and loom-craft.
Originally a Special Exhibit for the New England Weavers' Seminar held at Smith College during the summer of 2009, Imagine That! received such praise from viewers that the exhibit was extended. Imagine That! is now being shared throughout Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, greatly broadening our appreciation and understanding of the fiber arts. The exhibit features the work of Bhakti Ziek, Marjorie Durko Puryear, Sarah Zachs, Barbara Herbster, Laurie Carlson and Suzi Ballenger, along with students from the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth.
Opening Reception to be held Thursday, January 14 from 5:30-7pm.
