Pawtucket’s YMCA was founded in 1889 and originally located on the 2nd floor of the Kinyon’s Block (see 9-27 Broad Street) before moving to this new facility in 1907, offering dormitories as well as a reading room, parlor, game room, swimming pool, gymnasium, and bowling alley for members’ use. The current YMCA underwent major renovations and an expansion in the nineties.

A state of the art fitness center features over 100 pieces of fitness equipment and includes a Ready to be Fit center allowing our staff to perform individual training for beginners. An Extreme Gym showcases a 23 foot climbing wall, an expanded gymnasium, two racquetball courts, an aquatics center, updated locker room facilities, fifteen dedicated classrooms, a music room, and a computer lab. The Family YMCA of Pawtucket features over 30 Group Exercise classes, an inordinate amount of youth sport opportunities, numerous party and celebration venues, family and individual swim lesson opportunities, and of course staple programs such as Healthy Kids Day and Splash Week.
