The Blackstone Chess Center is located in Downtown Pawtucket, RI. A minute off the highway (I-95 exit RI-27) with ample free parking, the Center is located in The Grant, in the Arts and Culture district. We are open every Saturday afternoon from 1pm until 7pm, and Thursday evening at 7pm. We hold USCF rated weekly tournaments Thursday nights, and a variety of events Saturdays. All ages and levels are welcome.
The Center hosts a variety of chess programs: tournaments, instruction, special events, and casual club meetings. Air conditioned! Our Pawn Shoppe offers books, software, and chess equipment at competitive prices. Beverages and snacks are available for sale in the playing room. Grant neighbor Kafe Lila serves coffee, tea, ice cream, and a variety of snacks Saturdays until 5pm. The Cup n' Saucer across the street offers burgers and diner fare until 8pm. Other affordable restaurants are within walking distance.
Directions: From Massachusetts/I-95 South, take exit RI-27, then take a right onto George Street. From points south/I-95 North, take exit RI-27, and take a left at the second light. Go past the Comfort Inn, to the end of the road. Take a right, and enter the parking garage at the bottom of the hill. Enter the building on Main Street. Kafe Lila is on the street level, the Blackstone Chess Center is down the stairs and to the right, Suite B3. The address is 250 Main Street (The Grant), Suite B3, Pawtucket RI 02860.
